Send us your ticket. Here is what happens next.
Send a photo of the front and back of your ticket and your driver’s license through the form, or call if you don’t have the ticket handy. We’ll contact you, typically within one business day, to confirm the details and collect payment, and we’ll get to work on your ticket right away. In many cases the next thing you hear from us is that your ticket has been resolved without you ever appearing in court. If the charge is more serious, you may need to appear once, and we’ll be there with you.
Two kinds of tickets, two kinds of courts
Cass County has one circuit court and several city municipal courts. Which one you are in depends on who wrote the ticket.
State tickets go to the Cass County Circuit Court. Tickets written by the Missouri State Highway Patrol or the Cass County Sheriff’s Office are charged under state law. Most of them come from I-49 and US-71 between Belton and the Bates County line, Route 58, 7 Highway, and Route 2. These are filed by the Cass County Prosecuting Attorney and heard in the associate division at the Cass County Justice Center, 2501 W Mechanic St, Harrisonville, MO 64701.
City tickets go to the city’s municipal court. Tickets written by a city police department under city ordinance stay in that city’s court. See the court pages below.
The difference matters for points. A speeding ticket under state law is 3 points; under a city or county ordinance it is 2. A state-law careless and imprudent charge can carry more points than the municipal version. Everything else about the case, including whether an amendment is possible, depends on the prosecutor and the court.

What a traffic lawyer can do in the Cass County Circuit Court
The Cass County Prosecuting Attorney’s office handles state traffic tickets. When the court accepts an amendment, you pay a fine and court costs and no points reach your record. Whether that is available depends on the charge, your driving record, and the facts. It is harder at 20 mph or more over the limit, in construction zones, and in school zones. It is generally not available for CDL holders, for speeds over 100 mph, or for excessive or reckless speeding.
Court fine and costs on an amended ticket typically run about $150 to $350, paid to the court. What you pay the firm is separate, and we tell you that number before you commit.
Municipal courts in Cass County
- Raymore Municipal Court: Route 58, Dean Avenue, and the school zones.
- Belton Municipal Court: I-49 exits, 155th Street, Route 58.
- Harrisonville Municipal Court: city streets and the Harrisonville school zones, as distinct from the state tickets heard at the Justice Center in the same town.
- Peculiar Municipal Court and Pleasant Hill Municipal Court: pages coming; contact us now for tickets in either court.
- Smaller municipal courts in Cass County, including Archie, Cleveland, Drexel, East Lynne, Freeman and Garden City, hold court at the Cass County Justice Center in Harrisonville. We handle tickets in all of them from our Raymore office.
In our experience, most municipal prosecutors in Cass County will consider amending a moving violation to a non-moving one when the driving record and the circumstances support it.
The Cass County tickets we see most
Speeding, driving while suspended, no insurance, no registration, failure to stop, school zone and construction zone speeding, careless and imprudent driving, failure to yield, leaving the scene of an accident, and DWI.
Two of these deserve special mention because pleading guilty can cost you your license:
Driving while suspended or revoked. A criminal charge in Missouri, and a conviction is 12 points, which is a one-year revocation on its own. Multiple charges carry escalating penalties, so the timing of how each one is handled matters. Driving while suspended in Missouri
No insurance. A conviction is 4 points and brings its own license consequences through the Department of Revenue, which get worse each time. It is an expensive ticket to plead guilty to. No proof of insurance tickets in Missouri
DWI is charged in the circuit court too, but it is a criminal case with a separate license proceeding at the Department of Revenue. See our Missouri DWI overview.
Missed court date, warrant, or suspended license
If you don’t appear on the court date printed on your ticket and nothing has been filed for you, the court can issue a warrant, sometimes the next day, and your license can be suspended, possibly within 30 days. If a warrant is already out, we file a motion to set it aside; depending on the charge you may need to appear once. Show up on your court date even if the case isn’t on Case.net yet.
The first 48 hours
Call an attorney within 48 hours of any ticket or citation in Cass County, including a municipal ticket for something other than a traffic offense. How a charge is filed can change later, and a lawyer who has seen the paperwork can tell you how much time you have and whether anything needs to happen right away.
Cass County traffic ticket FAQ
I was stopped by a trooper on I-49. Where is my court date?
At the Cass County Justice Center in Harrisonville, associate division. The ticket will say “Cass County” rather than a city name. Send it to us and we will confirm.
Can I just pay a Highway Patrol ticket?
Many state tickets are payable through Case.net without appearing. Paying is a guilty plea: a state-law speeding conviction is 3 points, and 8 points in 18 months is a suspension.
I live out of state. Do I have to come back?
Usually not for a routine ticket. Tell us where you live when you send the ticket.
Does a Cass County ticket affect a Kansas license?
Missouri reports the conviction, and your home state applies its own rules. We are licensed in Missouri only and handle the Missouri case.
My ticket says “Cass County” but I was in Belton.
Then the officer was a trooper or a deputy, and the case is in the circuit court, not Belton Municipal Court.
