Raymore Traffic Ticket Lawyer
Higher Level Legal’s office is at 309 S Washington St in Raymore, a few minutes from Raymore Municipal Court. If you were ticketed by Raymore police on Route 58, on Dean Avenue, near the I-49 interchange, or in one of the Raymore-Peculiar school zones, your case is in this court. Send us a photo of the ticket and we will tell you what it actually costs and what your options are.
Send us your ticket. Here is what happens next.
Send a photo of the front and back of your ticket and your driver’s license through the form, or call if you don’t have the ticket handy. We’ll contact you, typically within one business day, to confirm the details and collect payment, and we’ll get to work on your ticket right away. In many cases the next thing you hear from us is that your ticket has been resolved without you ever appearing in court. If the charge is more serious, you may need to appear once, and we’ll be there with you.
Which court is your ticket in?
Raymore Municipal Court handles tickets written by the Raymore Police Department under city ordinance. Tickets written on I-49 by the Missouri State Highway Patrol or the Cass County Sheriff’s Office are state charges, and those go to the Cass County Circuit Court in Harrisonville. Look at the top of your ticket: it names the court. If you are not sure, send it to us and we will tell you.
Raymore Municipal Court
- Address: 100 Municipal Circle, Raymore, MO 64083 (City Hall and Municipal Court Building)
- Court clerk: (816) 331-1712
- Court sessions are held on scheduled Thursdays. The attorney docket starts at 4:00 p.m., in person or by Webex. Walk in dockets are for people representing themselves and are held in person only.
- Case lookup: Case.net at courts.mo.gov.
- Payable offenses can be paid online through courts.mo.gov or the city’s online payment site, by mail, or in person at the court. The court does not accept payments by phone.
Which tickets can be paid without going to court
Raymore follows Missouri’s uniform municipal fine schedule. If a charge is on that schedule, Case.net will show a dollar amount and you can pay it without appearing. Paying is a guilty plea, and a guilty plea to a moving violation goes on your Missouri driving record with points.
The court requires a personal appearance for some charges, including:
- Driving while suspended or revoked
- Any alcohol- or drug-related traffic offense
- Any offense involving an accident
- All non-traffic ordinance violations
- Code enforcement or housing code offenses
- Animal control offenses
- Any charge not on the uniform fine schedule
If your ticket has no dollar amount on Case.net, you must appear on the court date printed on the ticket.
What a traffic lawyer can do in Raymore
In our experience, the Raymore prosecutor will consider an amendment when the driving record and the circumstances support it. When a court accepts an amendment, you pay a fine and court costs and no points reach your driving record. Whether an amendment is available depends on the charge, your driving record, and the facts. It is harder to get at speeds 20 mph or more over the limit, in construction zones, and in school zones. It is generally not available for CDL holders, for speeds over 100 mph, or for excessive or reckless speeding.
On an amended ticket, the court fine and costs typically run about $150 to $350. That is the court’s money, not ours. It is separate from what you pay the firm, which we will tell you before you commit to anything.
Do you have to go to court?
For routine tickets, usually not. The firm’s goal on every case is to resolve it without an appearance. When the charge is one Raymore requires you to appear on, such as driving while suspended, you will usually appear once, with your attorney.
Two Raymore tickets that always deserve a lawyer
Driving while suspended. This is a criminal charge, not a simple ticket, and Raymore requires a court appearance on it. A conviction adds 12 points, which is a one-year revocation by itself, and repeat charges carry heavier penalties. Read more about driving while suspended in Missouri.
No insurance. A conviction for failing to show proof of insurance carries 4 points and can trigger license consequences through the Department of Revenue, which get worse each time it happens. If you had coverage and simply couldn’t show it, that is often fixable with documentation. If you didn’t have coverage, you need to talk to a lawyer before you plead. Read more about no proof of insurance tickets.
What happens if you miss your court date
If you don’t appear and nothing has been filed on your behalf, the court can issue a warrant for your arrest, sometimes as soon as the next day, and your license can be suspended, possibly within 30 days. If a warrant is already out, we file a motion to set it aside. Depending on the charge, you may need to appear once to clear it. Show up on the date printed on your ticket even if you can’t find the case on Case.net yet.
The first 48 hours
Contact an attorney within 48 hours of any ticket. How a charge is filed can change later, and some situations call for acting before that happens. A lawyer who has seen the ticket can tell you how much time you have and whether there is any rush.
Raymore traffic ticket FAQ
Is Route 58 in Raymore heavily enforced?
Route 58 is Raymore’s main east-west road and carries most of the city’s traffic, and it is where Raymore police write many of their speeding tickets. Speed limits change along it as the road passes through commercial and residential stretches.
Can I take a driving course instead of getting points?
Sometimes. A driver improvement program reduces points only when the court authorizes it, and it is not automatic. Some Raymore resolutions include a course as a condition. Don’t enroll until the court has approved it.
I live out of state. Do I have to come back to Raymore?
For most routine tickets, no. Send us the ticket and we will tell you whether your charge is one the court requires you to appear on.
How many points is a Raymore speeding ticket?
A speeding ticket under Raymore city ordinance is 2 points if you are more than 5 mph over the limit. Five mph or less over is an infraction with no points. See the Missouri points chart.
What if the officer was Highway Patrol?
Then your case is in the Cass County Circuit Court, not Raymore Municipal Court. See our Cass County traffic ticket page.
